Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently rolled out an action plan to promote the high-quality development of its headquarters economy.

The city aims to become home to more than 1,000 corporate headquarters by 2022, which would make it a leader in headquarters economy in the Yangtze River Delta region and the nation as a whole, according to the plan.

An official at the reform office of the CPC Ningbo municipal committee said that Ningbo will prioritize the development of headquarters economy and ride the wave of opportunities generated by the current reshaping of the headquarters business model and global layout among multinational enterprises.

The plan stated that more efforts will be made to introduce headquarters in such fields as logistics, global trade, green petrochemicals, smart vehicles, innovative materials, biomedicine, modern finance and digital information.

Data from the Ningbo municipal bureau of service industry showed that the city housed over 500 corporate headquarters as of the end of September last year.

A total of 143 Fortune 500 companies have set up regional headquarters in the city.
