The Ningbo Kunpeng ecological industrial park funded by Huawei Technologies Co was inaugurated on Jan 8, according to local media reports.

Pengyao, a server jointly developed by Huawei and Donghua software, also debuted at the ceremony. The server built based on Huawei's Kunpeng processors for general purpose computing was put into use in the city's cloud center of government affairs at the beginning of this month.

The ceremony also witnessed the establishment of the Ningbo Kunpeng Innovation Center, which will engage in product development, system testing and the training of skilled workers.

Using the platform, Huawei will strive to develop competitive chips, operating systems and 5G technologies.

Situated in Ningbo national high-tech zone, Kunpeng Industrial Park covers an area of one square kilometer. It is expected to eventually become home to more than 100 companies related to Kunpeng processors and 5G technologies.

By 2022, it is hoped to that the park will develop into a national technological innovation hub for the computing information sector.

It is estimated that by 2025, the scale of the Kunpeng computing industry in Ningbo will reach 50 billion yuan ($7.46 billion), becoming a new engine for the development of modern industrial clusters in the city.

In September last year, Ningbo reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei.

Zheng Shanjie, Party secretary of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee, Qiu Dongyao, mayor of Ningbo, and Shi Yaohong, vice president of Huawei, attended the inauguration ceremony.
