Ningbo's GDP soars 6.8 percent in 2019

Ningbo's GDP was 1.19851 trillion yuan ($178.88 billion) last year, an uptick of 6.8 percent year on year, local authorities said on Jan 22.

According to the Ningbo municipal bureau of statistics, the city's growth rate outpaced the national average, which stood at 6.1 percent.

The output of its primary industry rose 2.3 percent over the previous year to 32.23 billion yuan, while the added value of its secondary industries expanded by 6.2 percent to 578.29 billion yuan. The figure for tertiary industries was 587.99 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6 percent.

The industrial added value above designated size in Taizhou in 2019 reached 399.15 billion yuan, up 6.4 percent year-on-year.

Businesses with annual revenue of over 200 million yuan posted strong profit growth in the city last year. Statistics show that the aggregate profits of such companies reached 129.85 billion yuan, soaring 4.7 percent.

The city's investment in fixed assets reported an increase of 8.1 percent last year.

The sales of commercial houses in Ningbo totaled 17.146 million square meters, a yearly uptick of 5.6 percent.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in the city reached 447.37 billion yuan, up 7.7 percent year-on-year.

As an important engine fueling the city's economic development, foreign trade also maintained fast growth.

Ningbo's imports and exports reached 917.03 billion yuan in 2019, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.9 percent.

The city's export volume accounted for 3.46 percent of the nation's total. The actual use of foreign investment rose 19.7 percent to $2.36 billion over the 12-month period.

The city's general financial revenue increased 4.9 percent to 278.49 billion yuan, while the general public budget expenditure reached 176.79 billion yuan, an uptick of 10.9 percent.

Ningbo's per capita disposable income stood at 56,982 yuan in 2019, up 9.7 percent year-on-year in nominal terms.

The average per capita disposable income for rural residents reached 36,632 yuan, up 8.9 percent, while that of urban residents rose 7.9 percent to 64,886 yuan.

The city's per capita consumption expenditure was 33,944 yuan, up 5.4 percent year-on-year.
