Local production organs should work to overcome difficulties and resume production while making efforts to prevent and control the novel coronavirus, said Zheng Shanjie, Party secretary of the CPC Ningbo municipal committee, on Feb 16.

"We will be able to win the battle against the virus as long as the government and enterprises work together," said Zheng while inspecting enterprises in the city's Fenghua district.

While visiting Ningbo Asiaway Automotive Components Co Ltd, which is now operating at 40 percent capacity, Zheng asked local authorities to help enterprises arrange for special cars to transport employees still outside the city so that they can increase production capacity.

Ningbo Eternal Hydraulic Engineering Co is working overtime to catch up with all the orders it has received for pneumatic products, which are needed for producing medical devices.

During his visit, Zheng expressed hope that the enterprise would fulfill its social responsibilities and turn the current crisis into an opportunity to expand and improve the quality of its products in order to gain a greater competitive advantage in the field of industrial automation.

More than 90 percent of Zhejiang Aiyimei Clothing Co Ltd employees have already returned to work, as most of them are local residents.

In order to alleviate the current shortage in masks, the company has refitted its production line and is now capable of supplying 160,000 masks per day.

The Party chief approved of the company's practices and expressed hope that it would fully leverage its strengths to improve its social credit.

Zheng also visited workers and volunteers serving at checkpoints on highways and in local residential communities.

Ningbo had reported 156 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia as of midnight on Feb 16.

A total of 62 people with the virus have recovered and been discharged from the hospital, while 627 people who have had close contact with patients are still under medical observation, according to the local health commission.
