Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province is bringing migrant workers from areas relatively unaffected by the novel coronavirus outbreak back to work on chartered trains.

Four chartered bullet trains set out on Feb 18 and 19 from Ningbo, transporting employees from four cities - Fuyang, Chengdu, Zhoukou and Nanchang - back to the city to help alleviate the shortage of employees currently facing enterprises.

Each bullet train was assigned four staff members from Ningbo, responsible for monitoring passenger temperatures.

Upon arrival at Ningbo railway stations, buses chartered by local social security authorities and enterprises will transport the employees directly home. The number of passengers per bus is limited to half capacity.

Ticket fees will be waived for passengers boarding the aforementioned four trains, according to local authorities.

Official statistics show that 45 percent of migrant workers in Ningbo are from the provinces of Anhui, Sichuan, Henan, Jiangxi and Guizhou.

The city has been ordered by the provincial traffic department to remove all checkpoints on highway entrances to ensure smooth transportation.

Starting from Feb 19, most bus lines in the city's main urban areas will resume operation, according to the city's transport bureau. Only those holding a green QR code or a paper health certificate indicating they have little chance of having been infected are able to take public transport.

Local residents are also being asked to complete real-name registration before taking the subway, which is set to reopen on Feb 20.
