A wide range of high-tech products are being employed in Ningbo to help fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak.

A total of 130 new products and technologies related to virus detection, temperature monitoring, and sterilization have been applied in the city to help curb the contagion thus far, according to the Ningbo municipal bureau of technology.

A new generation of fully automatic production lines for face masks developed by the Ningbo Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology need only one operator, as they support parameter customization and remote control and maintenance, according to a staffer from the Ningbo institute of intelligent manufacturing technology.

Temperature monitoring equipment independently developed by Ningbo Huashu Robot Co Ltd is capable of measuring the temperatures of passersby from up to eight meters away with high accuracy.

It has a life expectancy of 50,000 hours and is equipped with an infrared lens detector. A thermal image of every passerby is shown on a screen in real time, and high temperatures trigger an alert.

The equipment has already been applied at some local hospitals and grocery markets, with some even being used at temporary hospitals in Wuhan.

Nucleic acid testing reagents developed by Ningbo Medical System Co Ltd and Ningbo Health Gene Technologies Co Ltd have been widely used in the city as well. They have effectively shortened the amount of time needed for medical observation and home isolation before employees can return to work.

The two companies have provided testing services for 126,528 employees from 7,500 enterprises throughout Ningbo. In Beilun district alone, 15,000 employees of more than 200 enterprises have returned to work ahead of schedule after nucleic acid testing.

In addition, Health Gene's testing method has slashed detection times for the novel coronavirus from more than 10 hours to just three or four hours.

The company's testing kit has been used in hospitals in the provinces of Zhejiang, Shandong, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan.
