Ningbo's Jiangbei district recently unveiled a plan to recruit high-caliber professionals for its digital economy.

The district will implement an upgraded recruitment initiative that will provide more incentives to attract talent in specific fields.

Professionals included in the Bei’an Elite Plan, a local recruitment initiative, will be entitled to a maximum of 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) in subsidies from the local government.

In addition, outstanding entrepreneurial projects led by top talent may be granted up to 100 million yuan in subsidies.

University graduates specializing in digital economy will be offered living allowances of 20,000 yuan over the course of three years, while those graduating from the world's top 100 universities will receive a one-time subsidy of 50,000 yuan if they opt to work in the district, according to the plan.

The move comes as part of local authorities' efforts to bolster the digital economy and integrate new generation information technology with the real economy, according to an official at the talent office of the CPC Jiangbei district committee.

In 2019, revenue from the district's digital economy exceeded 100 billion yuan, and the district is now home to 4,000 enterprises involved in the digital economy, including 10 provincial-level enterprises.

In addition, a number of unique digital industrial clusters involving smart first aid, smart water conservancy, and blockchain technology have formed in Jiangbei.

By 2021, it is hoped that the digital economy will account for half the district's GDP, according to the document.
