Construction on line 4 of the subway in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province is in full swing despite the epidemic.

The 35.95-km-long subway line traverses the downtown area of Ningbo at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, stopping at a total of 25 stations between Cicheng town and Dongqian Lake.

The new subway line is scheduled to open by the end of this year and will greatly relieve the pressure on public transportation in the city.

More than 6,000 workers are currently constructing the line's 25 stations, which will be equipped with 36 electric passenger cars. Currently, a total of 15 passenger cars have been put in place.

Ningbo is the 21st city on the mainland to open a subway, with its first line being put into trial operation on May 30, 2014.

By July 2019, the city had three metro lines in operation, namely line 1, line 2 and the first phase of line 3, with 66 stations and a total length of 91 km.

China has more than 30 cities with operational metro systems, and that figure is projected to reach 50 by 2020 as more cities complete urban rail projects.
