Efforts made to ensure safety as schools reopen

Schools in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province will begin reopening schools on April 13, as the epidemic subsides in the city.

Local authorities have made concerted efforts to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

As of April 7, 99.22 percent of the city's primary school, middle school and kindergarten students had obtained green health QR codes, which indicates they have little possibility of being infected with COVID-19. 

The figure for school faculty across the city was 99.67 percent.

At present, Ningbo has 2,020 primary schools, middle schools, and kindergartens, with a total of 1.492 million teachers and students. 

The local education bureau will assess epidemic prevention measures taken by local schools and only those that pass the evaluation will be allowed to reopen. 

Faculty and students from Hubei province are required to carry out nucleic acid and serological tests within 14 days before returning to school. Only those who have negative results and have no physical abnormalities such as fever and cough will be allowed to return to school. 

After schools reopen, all faculty and students will be required to have their temperatures taken and show their green health QR codes before entry. 

Schools are advised to arrange for students to dine at different periods, install temporary isolation panels on each table, and order takeout meals.

At boarding schools, dormitory management will be strengthened. Rooms should be disinfected and ventilated every day.
