Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, was recently included in a national pilot program to promote the standardization of medical care in rural areas.

A total of 51 cities and counties across the country were listed as pilot areas for standardized basic public services, which primarily cover things like education, employment, insurance, housing, and care for the disabled.

The list was jointly released by the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.

Four cities in Zhejiang made the list, and Cixi will focus on the standardization of rural medical care.

The city will continue to optimize medical care services for rural residents and further improve availability.

It aims to ensure that more than 90 percent of rural households in the city have a family doctor, and that over 65 percent of rural residents diagnosed with chronic diseases will be able to receive standardized management. The city hopes its healthcare system will receive a public approval rate of at least 95 percent.
