Zheng Shanjie, secretary of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee, called upon enterprises to turn the crisis caused by the epidemic into new development opportunities.

Zheng made the remarks during a meeting with entrepreneurs from the Daqi High-End Auto Parts and Molds Park in Beilun district on May 7.

The epidemic's rapid spread overseas has indeed had a serious impact on domestic enterprises. Nevertheless, they should strengthen confidence, he said.

The confidence should stem from the nation's solid industrial foundation, broad development potential, effective policy support, and congenital entrepreneurial environment, the Party chief explained.

Zheng urged companies to continue improving their management so as to minimize operation costs and risks, pledging that the government will further optimize services and create better conditions for the development of enterprises.

The Daqi High-End Auto Parts and Molds Park houses more than 70 enterprises, 90 percent of which are engaged in the production of die-casting mounds. Eleven companies in the park rank among the top 20 die-casting mound companies in China.

Optimistic about future development, Qiu Zhiwei, general manager of Ningbo Weco optoelectronics Co Ltd, said that the company expects to recoup losses caused by the epidemic in the first half of the year despite a drop of 15 percent in sales year-on-year in the first quarter.

He revealed that the company is taking advantage of business opportunities in new fields, including subways and industrial automatic doors, in order to offset its losses.

Wang Hongbiao, president of Zhejiang Huashuo Technology Co Ltd, said the company's output grew by 35 percent in the first quarter thanks to its spending on technical upgrades and production expansion over the past two years. Over the next five years, the company's output value is expected to exceed 3 billion yuan ($434.78 million).
