A 5G-enabled smart plant was recently established in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province.

The plant is owned by IKD Co Ltd, a joint-venture enterprise specializing in the manufacture of high-precision aluminum die casting products.

The plant is a result of IKD's partnership with China Mobile, one of three major telecom operators in China. It is the first 5G-powered smart factory constructed by China Mobile.

5G has helped IKD improve its market responsiveness and product competiveness, according to He Shenghua, deputy general manager of the company.

The efficiency of its equipment production has risen 19 percent over the previous year, while the number of customer quality complaints has dropped 23 percent.

The plant's stockpile has also been reduced by 70 million pieces.
