HMM Oslo, the world's largest container ship, berthed at the Daxie port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, one of the world's top container ports, on May 19.

Measuring 400 meters in length, 62 meters in width and 33 meters in height, the vessel has a maximum tonnage of 225,000 metric tons and can accommodate up to 23,820 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units).

Its arrival means that Daxie port's container handling capacity has risen from 20,000 to 24,000 TEUs.

Numerous 200,000-tonnage ships have docked at the port area since 2014. Earlier this year, the port finished upgrading its berths.

Official statistics show that the cargo throughput of the Daxie port area reached 101 million metric tons in 2019, accounting for about 17 percent of the total volume in Ningbo.
