Ningbo ranked third among major cities in China in terms of online government service capabilities, according to a recent report.

The report assessed the online government service capabilities of provincial-level governments and major cities. The e-government service office of the General Office of the State Council entrusted the e-government service research center of the National Academy of Governance to compile the report.

Zhejiang and Guangdong topped all provinces with a score of 96.73, while Hangzhou, along with Nanjing and Guangzhou, ranked second among major cities across the country with a score of 96.45, said the report.

Provinces and municipalities with scores over 90 are considered to have very strong online government service capabilities. In addition to the aforementioned places, Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui, Guizhou, Qingdao, Shenzhen, and Hefei were also ranked as "very strong".

Zhejiang has been a pioneer in digitalizing governance in recent years. As of the end of 2019, all government services in the province were accessible online, 80.5 percent of which could be handled by phone.
