Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently rolled out an action plan to bolster the growth of the nighttime economy.

According to the plan, the city will develop five nighttime business districts, 10 characteristic blocks, and 40 15-minute business circles for the convenience of local residents by 2021.

The five business districts will be located in Tianyi Square, Laiwaitan, Nantang Old Street, Eastern New City, and Southern New City.

The city will also upgrade Laiwaitan and open a number of restaurants open day and night. In addition, a series of cultural performances will be held at the city's plazas at night.

Efforts will also be made to illuminate scenic attractions such as Tianyi Pavilion and Moon Lake and build a number of self-service libraries and fitness facilities.

Meanwhile, specific officials will be put in charge of the development of the nighttime economy and it will be included as an indicator during their annual performance evaluation.

The development of the nighttime economy is set to be included in the city's overall urban development plan, and the city will strengthen its support for nighttime public transport and roll out policies to make parking at night easier as well.

In addition, booths will be allowed to be set up in certain business districts over a certain period of time as long as they comply with relevant regulations and don't disturb residents or affect traffic.
