Donghua Software Co Ltd and Huawei Technologies announced on June 21 that the Pengxiao server based on the Kunpeng processor rolled off the production line in the Ningbo National High-tech Zone with an expected annual output of more than 50,000 units.

The production line will allow Ningbo to manufacture core computing equipment and marks a big step forward in the building of a computing industry ecosystem in the city based on the chipset developed by Huawei. 

Mass production of the server wa achieved just half a year after its initial debut. 

Xiao Xiaocong, president of Donghua Electronic information industry (Ningbo) Co Ltd, said that due to the help of local authorities, Donghua was among the first enterprises to resume production amid the COVID-19 epidemic, allowing the company to make up for lost time and ensure the server's production line begins operating as scheduled.

The Pengxiao DHC-NB920 series server is a 2U double-channel rack server based on the Huawei KunPeng 920 processor. It operates much more efficiently than similar products and is on par with those developed by famous international brands. The server will be used in fields such as banking, finance, digital media, and game engines.

In addition, the Ningbo Kunpeng Innovation Center has begun work on its interior and is expected to begin operating by the end of August. 

That same day, Donghua also reached cooperation agreements with Ningbo Industry & Investment Group and Ningbo High-tech Zone Investment Group to proceed with the construction of the Kunpeng Industrial Park. They plan to invest 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) and introduce 200 software-related enterprises within five years.

Companies such as Zhejiang DTCT Data &Technology Co Ltd, China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Mobile also signed agreements to procure 10,000 Pengxiao servers produced in Ningbo.
