Ningbo recently announced that it plans to renovate 130 public toilets in its urban area by the end of this year.

It will construct 19 new toilets - five in Zhenhai district, three in Fenghua district, three in Eastern New City, five in Yinzhou district and three in Jiangbei district.

According to the Zhejiang provincial department of housing and urban-rural development, Zhejiang aims to renovate 971 public toilets in 2020 and complete upgrades on all public toilets in the province by the end of 2022.

The goal is to ensure that everyone in the city's populous areas is within 10 minutes of a toilet at all times.

The public toilets in the city will fall into three categories according to their locations.

The first category includes toilets situated in public places such as transportation stations, scenic spots, schools, gyms, hotels and commercial streets.

The second category includes toilets situated in niche markets selling goods such as vegetables, fruit, seafood and building materials.

The third category includes toilets situated along streets, which are designed to serve people at stores, restaurants and public institutions.
