Ningbo, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, was recently included in a national pilot program to promote the modernization of social governance in urban areas.

According to the guidelines released by the Political and Judiciary Commission under the Central Committee of the CPC, an assessment system will be put in place to evaluate the capabilities of pilot cities in preventing and resolving major social conflicts and risks.

The system will apply to political security, resolving conflicts and risks, public security, and people's sense of happiness and security.

A head official from the Political and Judiciary Commission under the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee said that the city will explore a new model of social governance for Ningbo that can be reproduced elsewhere.

The pilot program will run for three years, and Ningbo will be awarded a national honorary title after passing an evaluation.
