Moviegoers in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province will be able to enjoy a series of discounts soon, as a new installment of coupons designed to boost the local culture and tourism sector is set to be issued tonight.

The coupons will be released on online payment platform Alipay at 8:00 pm and can be used in places such as cinemas, hotels, homestays, theaters and bookstores across the city.

The coupons are valid for seven days and come with five different amounts: 10 yuan ($1.45), 30 yuan, 60 yuan, 100 yuan and 200 yuan. Holders of the coupons can save up to 200 yuan on the condition that they spend at least 600 yuan.

If any problems occur in the process of receiving and using the coupons, local residents can contact Alipay by dialing 95188.

To date, more than 37 cinemas across Ningbo have signed up for the campaign.

The majority of cinemas in the city have resumed operations, after the China Film Administration, in a circular released in the middle of this month, allowed cinemas in low-risk areas to resume operations as long as they put in place effective epidemic prevention measures.

Coupons have proved effective in stimulating consumption amid the COVID-19 epidemic. Since April 17, a total of 110 million yuan in coupons have been issued in Ningbo, official data show.
