Transactions worth more than 40 million yuan ($5.79 million) in total were reached during the 2020 China Ningbo Tea Industry Exposition, which came to an end on Aug 3, according to local media reports.

The expo, now in its 10th year, also saw the inking of 5,790 intended deals with a combined value of 85 million yuan.

It is the first offline tea fair that has been held in East China's Zhejiang province this year. The fair, featuring more than 700 booths, occupying 14,370 square meters in total, attracted a total of 215 enterprises from 69 famous tea production areas.

An official from the Ningbo municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs said that the expo served as a trading and exchange platform for tea producers and buyers.

Meanwhile, a series of activities such as South Korean tea art performances were held on the sidelines of the event.

Ningbo, the origin of the maritime tea trading route in ancient China, has seen its tea industry flourish in recent years. The city has now emerged as an important production area for green tea, as well as a national hub for tea exports and cultural exchange.
