Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, raised the cinema attendance limit from 30 percent to 50 percent so long as effective epidemic control measures are in place on Aug 14, according to local media.

Also, for films under two hours in length, a break is no longer needed halfway through the movie. However, local cinemas are required to extend the time period between two movies and ensure adequate ventilation and disinfection measures are taken. Additionally, drinks may be sold at cinemas, but eating and drinking while watching the movie is prohibited.

Local cinemas in Ningbo have been gradually reopened since July 20, and many people have already paid them a visit.

As of Aug 10, 22 days after cinemas reopened, statistics show that 172,000 films were screened nationwide, with about 760,000 people attending. Box office was estimated at 22.3 million yuan ($3.2 million).
