Two residential communities in Ningbo were included in a pilot program of "future community" construction in Zhejiang province, according to the notice released by the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission on Aug 18.

A total of 35 communities across the province were included in the program. The two from Ningbo were Tongshan residential community in Beilun district and Jiangshan residential community in Yinzhou district.

Tongshan community will be demolished and reconstructed. The pilot area of the community will cover an area of 20.28 hectares. Boasting an investment of 6.73 billion yuan ($975.36 million), the project will involve 2,640 residents, with plans to bring in 3,191 talents with various skills.

The community is designed to be a demonstration community for coordinated development between youth and industry.

Meanwhile, a 20.81-hectare area of the Jiangshan residential community will be included in the pilot program. The project, which has an investment of roughly 5.987 billion yuan, will benefit 5,619 residents, with plans to introduce 1,668 talents in multiple fields.

Included in the provincial government report in 2019, a future community is an urban development project that aims to make cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly, and digital.

Zhejiang aims to build around 100 pilot communities by 2021 and implement the project throughout the province by 2022.
