Ningbo makes strides in 'beautiful town' construction

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has launched a three-year campaign to accelerate the construction of "beautiful towns" across the city. A total of 106 towns and sub-districts are included in the campaign.

Great efforts have been made by the city to upgrade the infrastructure in its towns.

This year, the city has initiated a total of 612 facility upgrade projects with a combined investment of 7.9 billion yuan ($1.15 billion). As of now, it has completed 4.59 billion yuan in investment. 

Meanwhile, a total of 329 projects costing 23.7 billion yuan have also been launched this year to improve public services by constructing facilities for commerce, culture, education, medical care and elderly nursing. 

Ningbo has also initiated 206 projects costing 12.3 billion yuan to promote industrial upgrading in all towns under its jurisdiction, which are expected to fuel high-quality development at the township level. As of now, 8.9 billion yuan worth of the projects have been completed.

Efforts have been made to strengthen the protection of historical and cultural resources, boost the integrated development of culture and tourism, and improve life circle construction. A total of 186 such projects have been started, costing 1.8 billion yuan. 

The city is striving to build a long-term environment management system and improve governance capability. This year, a total of 107 projects have been launched in towns to improve the environment, with a total investment of 430 million yuan. Currently, 200 million yuan worth of investment has been completed.
