The 2020 China Rural Vitalization Development Conference, which explores new developments in China's rural areas, took place in Yinzhou district of Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 6.

More than 200 officials, scholars and entrepreneurs gathered to discuss new ways to revitalize China's rural areas. Keynote speeches and seminars served as platforms for participants to share insights into policies and implementation measures concerning the improvement of industries and overall livelihood in rural China.

Six new projects worth over 9 billion yuan ($1.32 billion) were signed at the conference.

Qiu Dongyao, mayor of Ningbo, addressed the conference, saying the national strategy of rural vitalization is the main guide for the management of the city's rural affairs.

In the district of Yinzhou, one of the country's first pilot areas for rural governance, the philosophy of modernization has permeated all aspects of rural development.

When developing agriculture and rural areas, the district adheres to the integrated development of urban and rural areas, the advancement of digital technologies and the promotion of folk culture, according to Chu Yinliang, Party secretary of Yinzhou.

"Ningbo has been seeking to modernize its agriculture and villages while retaining its unique characteristics," said Qiu, noting that Ningbo will go deeper and further in boosting the development of rural areas in the future.
