A total of 293 million yuan in deals were agreed upon at the 2020 Maritime Silk Road Culture and Travel Expo, which came to a close in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 27.

The three-day event also saw the inking of 782 million yuan worth of intended deals, far more than expected.

The exhibition, which is a combination of the Ningbo Cultural Expo and Ningbo International Travel Expo, was composed of five pavilions occupying about 30,000 square meters in total. It attracted nearly 60,000 visitors and more than 1,000 exhibitors from over 10 countries and regions around the world.

In addition, nearly 20 events, including the inauguration ceremony for the studio named after Shan Jixiang, 2020 Yangtze River Delta Travel Agent Conference and China Design Awards Conference, were staged alongside the expo.

An exhibitor surnamed Sveta from Russia, this year's guest country of honor, said it was a major treat to be able to attend the expo and extended a welcome to Chinese exhibitors to visit Russia for culture and travel cooperation.

Xu Songjin, an exhibitor from Xiamen, the guest city of honor, said the expo has offered a rare platform to promote the development of the tourism sector in both Ningbo and Xiamen.

According to the organizing committee, new additions to the event including night markets where visitors are able to try delicacies as well as online exhibitions also proved to be successful.

The event was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Ningbo Municipal People's Government.
