Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province saw a boost in tourism during the just-concluded National Day holiday.

Over the eight-day holiday, which lasted from Oct 1 to Oct 8, roughly 9.41 million trips were made in the city, 92.8 percent of the same period last year, official data from the Ningbo municipal bureau of culture, radio, film and tourism show.

The city's tourism revenue amounted to 6.92 billion yuan ($1 billion), accounting for 85.93 percent of that of last year.

Numerous cultural and travel operators rolled out a series of activities specially designed for the holiday, which was prolonged this year to accommodate the concurrent Mid-autumn Festival.

A carnival was staged in Xiangshan Film and Television City in Ningbo over the holiday, attracting over 10,000 visitors per day.

In Cicheng Ancient Town in Cixi county, which has a history of roughly 2,500 years, an old-style market highlighting several Mid-autumn Festival traditions was established, attracting about 10,000 tourists.

Ningbo is home to numerous renowned scenic attractions, including two national 5A scenic attractions (the highest level in the nation's classification for scenic spots) – Xikou Scenic Spot and Tianyi Pavilion-Moon Lake Scenic Spot.
