The Ningbo Zhoushan Port – the world's busiest port in terms of throughput volume for the past 11 years – reported positive growth in container throughout for the first nine months of this year, according to official data.

The port handled 21.323 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) from January to August, edging up 0.3 percent year-on-year.

In September alone, the figure stood at 2.702 million, representing a record year-on-year increase of 12.6 percent.

These strong results are largely due to the port operator's efforts to expand its logistics system and restore the global industrial chain.

The port has also been making continuous efforts to increase cooperation with large shipping companies. By the end of September, it had opened a total of 111 ocean routes, accounting for 44.4 percent of its total shipping routes.

In addition, it has strengthened cooperation with domestic shipping companies, and as of the end of September, it had handled 3 million TEUs in domestic trade, up 20 percent year-on-year.
