Twenty-two cross-border e-commerce companies in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, saw a 50 percent year-on-year increase in revenue amid the COVID-19 pandemic this year, thanks to the help from their overseas warehouses, local media reported on Oct 12.

More than 50 Ningbo companies have established over 150 warehoues in around 20 countries, occupying a total area of nearly 1.6 million square meters, according to Chen Lizhen, deputy director of the Ningbo municipal bureau of commerce.

Statistics show that in the first eight months of this year, the total import-export value of cross-border e-commerce in the city was 99.66 billion yuan ($14.83 billion).

Aosom E-commerce Inc is a notable success story during this period, as its operating revenue totaled 1.58 billion yuan in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 87.8 percent, while its net profit surged 493.13 percent year-on-year to 170 million yuan.

Aosom has established 15 overseas warehouses with a total area of 200,000 sq m to date, said Yan Guangyao, president of Aosom.

Yan added that Aosom plans to invest more than 1.5 billion yuan in the purchase of seven overseas warehouses in November this year.
