A group of foreign students learned about traditional Chinese medicine during their tour to a TCM pharmacy in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 3.

The 20 students, who are studying at the Zhejiang Science Technology Institute, come from eight different countries, including Russia, Uzbekistan, and Brazil.

"It was amazing to learn that a cicada's slough can be made into traditional Chinese medicine," said An Daiwei (Chinese name), a student from Ukraine.

They were showed some common traditional Chinese medicines and taught how to weigh and pack them. Some also learned about traditional Chinese massage.

Xiao Wen (Chinese name) from Bangladesh, who has been in China for nine years, shared how TCM helped him recover from illnesses like colds and cervical spondylosis.

"When I first came to China, I caught a cold and recovered quickly through TCM. This got me interested in TCM practices," he said.

Fu Xiaowei, a teacher at the Zhejiang Science Technology Institute, said that the tour is part of a course the school opened after getting to know that many foreign students are interested in traditional Chinese culture.
