An anonymous donor has been making annual donations to the Ningbo Charity Federation in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, since 1999.

The donor, who goes by the pseudonym Shunqiziran, has sent 12.58 million yuan ($1.82 million) in cash remittances to the city's charity organ over the past 22 years.

On Nov 28, the Ningbo Charity Federation received an envelope containing 105 cash remittances with a combined value of 1.03 million yuan.

Among them, 103 were worth 9,999 yuan each, as the remitter's name must be put on the receipt if the amount exceeds 10,000 yuan.

For more than 20 years, the donations have been used to help underprivileged people pursue education, and the use of each donation is publicized on media platforms, according to the donor's requirements.

Many others seem to have been inspired by the anonymous donor, as more than 50 million yuan in anonymous donations have been made in Ningbo, official data show.
