China's first bicycle training and testing center was inaugurated on Nov 30 in the city of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province -- which local officials said would provide safe cycling tuition to students above the age of 12.

The facility is part of the local authorities' efforts to promote traffic safety, as more and more locals including teenagers choose to travel on bikes.

Hello Bike, a ride-share provider in China, donated 30 customized bikes to the new center. In addition, a safe travel guidebook was also compiled by the company by partnering with the Jiangbei branch of Ningbo Municipal Traffic Police Bureau.

A certificate of completion will be granted to students after they pass a theoretical and practical exam.
