Ningbo achieves progress in transportation construction
Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has made strides in transportation construction in recent years.
To date, a total of 665 bus lines with a total length of more than 12,000 kilometers have been put into operation in the city.
In 2019, transportation investment amounted to 33.68 billion yuan ($5.18 billion), a year-on-year growth of 12.5 percent, official data from the municipal transport authorities show.
The figure this year is expected to reach 34.3 billion yuan, up 2 percent year-on-year despite the shrinkage in the first five months.
Great efforts have been made to improve road conditions in its rural areas. As of the end of November, a total of 113 km of roads has been built, exceeding the 100-km target set for the year.
The city has completed the renovation of rural roads spanning 992 km, which is significantly greater than the planned 800 km.
Meanwhile, construction for a number of major transportation projects in the city such as the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo Highway are in full swing. One-third of the highway has already been completed since construction started in December 2019.
