Ningbo Open University, formerly known as Ningbo Radio and Television University, was inaugurated in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, on Dec 27.
The university is one of 45 provincial-level open universities in China and serves as a branch of the Open University of China. It will work to boost the nation's lifelong learning program and cultivate skilled artisans for the new era.
Founded in 1979, Ningbo Radio and Television University offers more than 40 majors and has enrolled more than 200,000 undergraduate and junior college graduates.
Over the past five years, it has offered non-academic education for more than one million people.
