Winners of 2020 Ningbo int'l micro film festival announced
The online award ceremony for the 2020 Ningbo International Micro Film Festival was held on Jan 4. The festival's jury and entrants participated in the award ceremony through video calls.
The festival, which began accepting submissions on Oct 20, received more than 600 entries from more than 20 countries, including the UK, Italy, New Zealand, and South Korea.
A total of 34 awards for films, short videos, and scripts were given out, with the total prize money amounting to nearly 300,000 yuan ($46,153.85).
The film A Girl from the South was the biggest winner of the night, taking home the Golden Snail Award and the Best Director Award.
False Tomb from South Korea won the Best Foreign Language Film Award.
Five works including Porcelain Horse Tears and Contact with Mars won the Outstanding Screenplay Award.
This year, a special segment featuring short videos showcasing Ningbo's culture, folk customs, historical sites, and traditional cuisine was introduced. Twenty works won the short video awards and more than 70 percent of the recipients were from Ningbo.
The festival, now in its fifth year, has been steadily raising its international profile. This year, the festival became a member of the Short Film Conference (SFC).
