Two pedestrian streets- Laiwaitan and Nantang Old Street- in Ningbo recently made the list of Zhejiang high-end pedestrian streets.
Also known as the Old Bund, Laowaitan is situated on the north bank of the confluence of the Yaojiang River, Fenghua River, and Yongjiang River.
Known for its cobbled streets, as well as its bustling bars and restaurants, it is popular among foreigners and locals alike.
As a signature pedestrian street in downtown Ningbo, it was also included in the national pilot program for pedestrian street renovation and upgrading by the Ministry of Commerce last year.
There are 31 cultural relics on the street, including a world cultural heritage site under the State protection.
With a history of more than 500 years, Nantang Old Street is one of the eight historic blocks in Ningbo and also the only block in the city that reflects the unique living environment of a Jiangnan water town.
The street is a place filled with trinkets and delicious traditional cuisine. The former residence of Yuan Muzhi, a film master, is also situated on the street.
