Following Beijing's successful bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, ice and snow sports have emerged as the preferred choice for winter travel activities in China.

Though it seldom snows in Ningbo, the city has benefitted from this boom in ice and snow sports.

For example, the Shanglianggang ski resort in the city's Fenghua district received more than 12,100 visitors from Feb 12 to Feb 14, in turn generating over 2.6 million yuan ($400,000) in revenue.

Shanglianggang is the ski resort closest to the urban area of Ningbo. The resort's ski field spans 12,000 square meters and has a gradient of 18 degrees.

To prepare for the Spring Festival holiday crowds, the resort ramped up its epidemic control and prevention efforts and upgraded its ski facilities.

Additional coaches were also hired to provide customized services for skiers.
