Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled its 10 tasks to improve people's livelihoods in 2021.

The tasks compiled by the local government were passed at the sixth session of the 15th Ningbo Municipal People's Congress on Feb 23.

This year, the city will allocate a fund worth 5 billion yuan ($769.23 million) to fulfill the tasks, according to the conference.

One of the tasks would be to construct or expand 50 primary and middle schools and kindergartens.

The city will also ramp up care for the elderly. It plans to provide those aged above 65 free pneumonia and flu vaccines as well as construct an additional 10 5A-level old-age nursing homes.

In addition, the local government will build 100 standardized canteens and offer smartphone usage training for more than 100,000 elderly residents.

Meanwhile, efforts will be made to renovate 4 million square meters of old residential communities.

Garbage sorting will be further promoted across the city. An intelligent garbage classification and recycling service system will cover more than 95 percent of its central urban area, while the coverage in the remaining areas is targeted to hit over 60 percent.

This year, local authorities plan to construct or renovate 12 sports parks and build 110 fitness gyms and sports venues in residential communities.

A campaign to stabilize employment will also be launched in the city to create an additional 160,000 jobs in urban areas and provide vocational training for more than 180,000 people.

Care for infants will be strengthened. The city plans to build another 40 nursing institutions for infants aged below three.

Additionally, an additional 75 grocery markets will be upgraded to provincial level in 2021.
