Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has added another 14 national postdoctoral workstations, according to local media reports.

According to the recently released list of 497 postdoctoral workstations, 14 are established by enterprises based in Ningbo, accounting for a third of the province's total.

Ningbo has emerged as a magnet for high-end professionals in recent years.

In 1999, the city established its first postdoctoral workstation - the Ningbo Postdoctoral Workstation of Zhejiang University - in cooperation with Zhejiang University. Today, there are 224 workstations and 1,161 postdocs in the city, official data show.

In addition, the group of top-tier professional has obtained 1,365 patents and developed 187 new products above the municipal level.

The postdoctoral workstation set up by Zhongyin (Ningbo) Battery Co Ltd in 2004 exemplifies the city's attractiveness for high-caliber talents.

The workstation, which accommodate numerous postdocs, has conquered key technologies in lithium-iron battery, alkali-manganese battery and secondary zinc-manganese battery and promoted their commercialization.
