Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province kicked off a three-month national tour to promote its cultural and tourism resources in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on May 23.

A series of promotional activities including conferences, lectures, and a street market were held at Xi'an Jiaotong University, a prestigious university in the city.

Cheng Jin, head of the publicity department of Xi'an Jiaotong University, said that the event comprehensively displayed the unique charm of Ningbo, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the city's historical tradition, reform, as well as innovation as a port city in the south of the Yangtze River.

He added that he hoped that the university and Ningbo would carry out more extensive and in-depth cultural exchanges in the future.

Xi'an is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, while Ningbo is a key node on the ancient Maritime Silk Road. There are flights flying between the two ancient cities every day, and it only takes more than two hours for a single trip by air.

By partnering with China Eastern Airlines, Ningbo has also launched preferential tourism products targeting Xi'an residents.

A tickets package exclusively for Xi'an, which offers discounted prices on air tickets, hotels, and scenic spots for visitors from the city, is now available online, said Li Yinggang, deputy general manager of the Zhejiang branch of China Eastern Airlines.
