A food fiesta featuring cuisines prepared by chefs from China and Central and Eastern European countries will be staged in Laowaitan in Ningbo from June 7 to 9, according to local media.

The event, in its second edition this year, will coincide with the second China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair to be held in the city from June 8 to 11.

More than 100 booths will be erected in Laowaitan, where food and snacks from both CEEC and Zhejiang will be displayed.

Diplomats from countries including Serbia and Bulgaria will be invited to cook local specialties. This event will also be broadcasted live online.

In addition, activities like a European classical oil painting exhibition will be staged on the sidelines of the fiesta.

An official from the Jiangbei bureau of commerce pointed out that the event will highlight China-CEEC cooperation as well as the art and culinary cultural exchanges between China and its CEEC counterparts.

No overseas guests, except those who are already in China, will be invited to participate in the event in an effort to prevent the possible resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers said.

As the host, Ningbo's Jiangbei district has seen increasingly closer trade ties with the CEEC. In the first quarter, the district's exports to the CEEC were close to 620 million yuan ($95.38 million), up 76.62 percent year-on-year, while its imports stood at 53.917 million yuan.
