A recruitment fair targeting high-profile talents, such as doctors, was staged in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on July 7.
More than 260 doctors from 60 universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Japan's Nagoya University of Technology, as well as over 120 companies attended the event, which was the largest of its kind in Zhejiang in recent years.
Lin Tao, product director at Ningbo-based ergonomic solution products manufacturer Loctek, said that attending the fair was "fruitful".
"In the past, we had to visit numerous colleges to establish links with high-quality talents, but today we have chatted with three or four doctors in less than an hour," Lin said.
High-end professionals have become an important engine driving enterprises' growth in Ningbo.
As of the end of 2020, Ningbo had established 224 post-doctoral workstations, including 53 State-level post-doctoral workstations, mainly in fields like automobile manufacturing, green petrochemicals, high-end equipment, new materials, biomedicine, smart home appliances, and key basic components, according to official data from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.
The total output value of enterprises with post-doctoral workstations reached 386.93 billion yuan ($59.53 billion) last year, accounting for 31.18 percent of the city's total GDP.
In the past three years, Ningbo has introduced or cultivated 674 postdocs, among whom 123 have settled down in the city, while 10 have been included in the national and provincial talent training program for engineering innovation.
Their research results have created 5.16 billion yuan in output value for enterprises. Since 2018, they have helped local enterprises obtain 814 invention patents and develop 255 products that can only be imported.
