26,000-plus Yuyao residents relocated to safer places in 6 hours

Over 76,000 residents in Yuyao, a county-level city in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province had been relocated to safer places as of 6:00 pm on July 25, after Typhoon In-Fa, the sixth typhoon this year, made landfall in Zhoushan, an island city in Zhejiang, at around 12:30 pm, with the maximum wind speed reaching 136.8 kilometers per hour.
Before its landing, more than 49,000 residents from Yuyao had already been relocated. Within only six hours, the figure increased by over 26,000 to 76,764, according to local media reports.
Two emergency shelters were erected in Wengfang village, Humudu town, accommodating more than 200 people, including migrant workers from nearby construction sites, as well as residents from low-lying areas and areas at risk of geological disasters.
All the emergency shelters offer daily necessities.
Zhejiang had upgraded its emergency response to Level I, the highest level, starting at noon on June 24, the provincial emergency management department said.
The Zhejiang emergency management department called for immediate flood prevention measures, saying that school classes, production work, markets, and road traffic were to be suspended when necessary.
Over 1.1 million residents in the province had been relocated to safer places by the night of July 24, according to Zhejiang Daily.
