The second round of nucleic acid tests in Ningbo's Beilun district was completed as of 3:00 am on Aug 15, with more than 43,000 samples tested. All tests returned negative.

The tests were carried out after a worker in Meishan Port in Beilun district tested positive for COVID-19 during routine nucleic acid testing on Aug 11.

The worker was sent to a designated hospital for further medical treatment and his close contacts have all been quarantined. The relevant venues have also been closed for disinfection.

The city's epidemic control authorities launched the first round of nucleic acid tests in two sub-districts – Meishan and Baifeng - in Beilun on the afternoon of Aug 11. Twenty temporary sample collection sites as well as a cabin lab with a daily testing capacity of 10,000 samples were set up.

Within 24 hours, 47,000 samples were collected from the two sub-districts, all of which tested negative.

On Aug 13, the city started its second-round tests for the virus.
