An exhibition featuring 80 intangible cultural heritage artworks opened at Yangfan Gallery in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 23.

The artworks on display included painted lacquer, Yue kiln celadon, and bamboo root carving. All of them have been designated intangible cultural heritage items at different levels.

Zhou Bingyi, an inheritor of Xiangshan bamboo root carving, attended the opening ceremony. Zhou has been devoted to creating bamboo root carvings for 40 years, with some of his works having been permanently collected by the National Museum of China.

Inviting inheritors to share their stories behind their works is a good exploration for the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritages, one of the event's organizers said.

The exhibition is also part of the series of activities launched by the city to mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 1,200-year anniversary of the establishment of Ningbo.

Slated to run until Sept 15, the exhibition is open to the public for free.
