Ningbo launches Turkey-themed events

Activities themed on Turkey's tourism, music, art, and cuisine were staged at Ningbo Library on Oct 16.

These events were held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Turkey.

Huseyin Emre Engin, consul general of Turkey in Shanghai, donated books to Ningbo Library, which will be displayed in the "Turkey Window" in the library.

The "Turkey Window" is a special exhibition space launched by the library on its third floor to deepen readers' understanding of Turkey.

The ancient Silk Road started in China and ended in Turkey, which is now an important participant of China's Belt and Road Initiative. 

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has long maintained close trade and cultural exchanges with Turkey.

In July 2002, Enka, a global engineering, construction, and project management company headquartered in Turkey, established a subsidiary in Ningbo.

In August 2008, on behalf of China, the Ningbo Folk Art Troupe participated in the opening tour of Turkey's Izmir International Cultural Festival.

A metro train manufactured by the Ningbo branch of CRRC Corporation Limited was delivered to Istanbul, Turkey to serve a new airport there in July 2020.
