Ningbo wins 8 national science, technology awards

An annual ceremony was held to honor distinguished scientists, engineers, and research achievements in Beijing, capital of China, on Nov 3.
Eight projects led or participated in by enterprises and institutions in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province were conferred with national science and technology awards, including the State Technological Invention Award and the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
The ethylene project that Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co participated in was listed among the first prize winners of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
Four scientific achievements made or contributed by four companies or institutions from the city, including Konfoong Materials International Co Ltd, won the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award.
Three other accomplishments involving companies or research organs from Ningbo were also honored with the second prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
In recent years, Ningbo has made sustained efforts in spurring innovation, setting the goal of becoming an innovation hub for new materials, industrial internet, and key basic components in the nation.
Official data show that the city has won 25 national science and technology awards since 2016, which primarily involved fields like smart equipment, biomedicine, new materials, environmental protection, transportation, as well as agriculture.
