The 19th Ningbo Xiangshan Seafood Festival kicked off in Xiangshan county, Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 5 and is slated to run until Dec 30.

The festival's opening ceremony featured seafood and certain aspects of the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

A tasting of new Xiangshan dishes was held in an ancient piece of architecture at Xiangshan Film and Television City, which gave participants a chance to enjoy a Song-style feast.

This year's event will offer seafood dishes from both ancient and modern times, which are not only popular among celebrities but also everyday residents.

A series of activities entitled "Seafood +" was also launched at the opening ceremony, including "Seafood + Music", "Seafood + Camping", and "Seafood + Film and Television", which will give visitors the chance to enjoy fresh seafood while exploring Xiangshan county. 

Xiangshan county, which is home to an abundance of seafood, has been working to promote the high-quality development of its tourism industry and rural revitalization by creating a characteristic seafood culture in recent years.
