The percentage of days with good air quality in Ningbo's central urban area in the first 10 months of this year stood at 95.1 percent, up by 2.6 percentage points over the same period last year, according to the Ningbo municipal bureau of ecology and environment.

In October, the proportion of days with good air quality climbed to 96.8 percent, according to the Ningbo municipal bureau of ecology and environment.

From January to October, the average PM2.5 level was 19 micrograms per cubic meter, down by 9.5 percent year-on-year.

In terms of city-wide coverage, 14 administrative areas under Ningbo's jurisdictions enjoyed good air quality on 94.9 percent of the days over the 10-month period on average, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 percentage points.

Among them, Xiangshan county, Daxie development zone, and Dongqian Lake tourist resort boasted relatively better air quality.

No heavy air pollution days were seen in the city.

Ningbo was ranked eighth among the 168 major cities nationwide in terms of air quality in July, according to a recent report from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. It is the first time that the city has made the top 10 list for air quality in a single month.

In March, Ningbo was designated a provincial demonstration zone for air quality in 2020.

The sustained efforts made by local authorities to combat pollution have been playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the city's air quality. This year, Ningbo plans to rectify an additional 1,500 polluting enterprises, as well as upgrade 25 small and micro-sized industrial parks.
