The 2021 Zhenhai District East-West Pairing-off for Cooperation Week kicked off in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 20, marking the first day of the New Year of the Yi ethnic group.
The event was held at the Zhaobao Mountain Scenic Spot in Zhenhai district. Visitors enjoyed various performances showcasing the culture of Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in Southwest China's Sichuan province, such as a lion dance, a folk music show and a fashion show.
An agriproduct market displaying products from Liangshan was also held, attracting many residents.
Eight Yi students, who are currently studying at Zhenhai Vocational Education Center in Ningbo, were invited to the event to celebrate the Yi New Year together.
One student said, "It was so considerate of the local people to invite us to celebrate this important festival together. I'm happy to study in Ningbo."
During the event, the Zhaobao Mountain Scenic Spot offered free tickets to visitors from Liangshan. The Yi performers traveled around at the scenic spot and learned about the history and culture of Zhenhai district.
An official of the Zhenhai District Development and Reform Bureau noted, "It's the first year that Zhenhai has been paired off with Jinyang county in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture. Many residents in Jinyang are now studying and working in Zhenhai. We want to make them feel at home through this event.”
