Six places of Ningbo were recently listed among the top 20 top economically strong counties (districts) in East China's Zhejiang province.

They were ranked by their gross domestic product (GDP) in 2021.

Ningbo took three out of the top five slots, with Yinzhou district, Beilun district, the county-level city of Cixi ranking second, fourth and fifth respectively.

Yinzhou's GDP registered a yearly uptick of 7 percent to reach 250.03 billion yuan ($38.47 billion) in 2021, only behind Hangzhou's Yuhang district (250.22 billion yuan).

Its economic growth was primarily driven by its advanced manufacturing and modern service sectors.

High-tech industrial clusters including software, new materials and integrated circuits have taken shape in the district. The added value of the service sector accounted for 73 percent of its economic output in the past year.

The GDP of Beilun and Cixi in 2021 amounted to 238.25 billion yuan and 237.92 billion yuan respectively.

Home to part of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the world’s largest port by cargo throughput, Beilun's imports and exports were valued at 414.52 billion yuan last year, ranking first in Zhejiang.

A total of seven counties (districts) in Zhejiang saw their GDPs surpass 200 billion yuan in 2021. Three counties - Yinzhou, Beilun and Cixi - were from Ningbo, while the other four were from Hangzhou, namely Yuhang district, Shangcheng district, Binjiang district and Xiaoshan district.
